Biography

Dr. David Mandil is a fellowship-trained physician specializing in Primary Care Sports Medicine with extensive training in Emergency Medicine. After earning his medical degree, he completed residency training in Emergency Medicine followed by an ACGME-accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. During his fellowship, he provided medical coverage for Division I student-athletes through the Colgate University Athletics program and the Division I athletics program at Le Moyne College.

Throughout his training and career, Dr. Mandil has been recognized for his commitment to patient care and medical education, receiving the Award for Excellence and Leadership in Teaching and the Distinguished Teaching Resident Award. He also serves as a volunteer physician for the TCS New York City Marathon, providing medical care for runners during one of the world’s largest endurance events.

Dr. Mandil is fluent in English, Spanish, and Hebrew and conversational in Arabic, Italian, and American Sign Language (ASL). He provides comprehensive musculoskeletal care throughout the South Bronx and North Bronx, including Melrose, Mott Haven, Kingsbridge, Riverdale, and surrounding communities. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of sports injuries, work-related injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries, and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Non-Surgical Pain & Injury Care in the Bronx

Dr. Mandil provides non-surgical sports medicine care for athletes and non-athletes with acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. His treatment plans are tailored to each patient’s diagnosis, lifestyle, and functional goals. 

His clinical interests include:

  • Sports Injuries: Evaluation and treatment of ligament sprains, muscle strains, tendon injuries, rotator cuff injuries, meniscus tears, Achilles tendon injuries, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and plantar fasciitis.
  • Car Accident Injuries: Evaluation of whiplash, neck pain, back pain, joint injuries, and soft tissue injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, including New York No-Fault cases.
  • Work-Related Injuries: Evaluation and management of workplace injuries, repetitive strain injuries, slip-and-fall injuries, and Workers’ Compensation cases.
  • Joint & Spine Conditions: Non-surgical care for shoulder, knee, hip, ankle, elbow, neck, and back pain, arthritis, sciatica, and other musculoskeletal conditions.

 

Diagnostic Testing

Dr. Mandil utilizes comprehensive physical examinations, medical history, imaging review, and diagnostic testing when appropriate to evaluate the underlying cause of pain, weakness, numbness, tingling, joint injuries, and movement limitations. His diagnostic approach helps identify the source of symptoms and guide individualized treatment decisions.

Emergency Medicine Experience

Dr. Mandil’s background in Emergency Medicine provides extensive experience evaluating acute injuries, fractures, joint trauma, and other orthopedic conditions. This experience complements his sports medicine fellowship training and provides a strong foundation for evaluating both acute injuries and chronic orthopedic conditions.
