Biography
Dr. Ashley Simela is a graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received a medical degree. He then completed an internship at Northwell Health. From there, Dr. Simela completed his orthopaedic residency training at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Regional Program where he was appointed as the chief resident.
At the completion of his 5 year residency Dr. Simela was selected for spine fellowship at the Nationally and Internationally recognized Cedars-Sinai Spine Center for complex spine surgery. There Dr. Simela, received extensive training in complex adult and pediatric spine surgery. During fellowship training, Dr. Simela amplified his research skills in the clinical and laboratory settings. Dr. Simela participated in translational and clinical trial studies for spinal tissue engineering. His interest in spine research continues with the development of several spinal instrumentation systems.
Dr. Simela has published and presented in the fields of orthopaedics and spinal surgery. His clinical interests include adult orthopedic trauma, orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopy, complex spinal reconstruction using minimally invasive and robotic techniques.
